Entrance and Exit Counseling for US Stafford and PLUS Loans
Taylor is certified by the U.S. Government to participate in the Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) Program:
FFEL Federal Stafford Subsidized Loans are low-interest loans for financially needy undergraduate and graduate students. Interest does not accrue on the loan while the student is in school at least half-time. ($3500-$8000 depending on grade level)
FFEL Unsubsidized Stafford Loans are low-interest loans for undergraduate and graduate students where the student is responsible for the interest over the life of the loan, including while they are in school. They can be approved in place of the expected family contribution. ($3500-$20500 less any subsidized amounts received for the same period depending on grade level and dependency status)
FFEL PLUS Loans are loans to parents for college expenses of the undergraduate, dependent children. The right to borrow PLUS Loans has also been extended to eligible graduate and professional students. (Funds can not exceed costs of education and living expenses while in school)

Steps to processing a student loan application are:
1. Apply for your PIN number (www.pin.ed.gov ).
2. Complete and “sign” the on line Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov .
3. Contact our Registrar, Craig Weston, and inform him of your preferred lender’s (bank) information (craig.weston@taylor-edu.ca / 780-431-4208).
You must be registered in a minimum of 6 credit hours towards a degree, diploma or certificate (9 credit hours is minimum for government recognition of full time status for loans; 12-15 credit hours is recommended by the institution for timely completion of programs ).
Taylor’s student loan officer will then:
1. Secure the needed documents to determine your eligibility.
2. Process the school certification of your loan application.
3. Let you know what type and amount of funding you qualify for.
NOTE: Degree programs have been approved by the Veterans' Administration of the United States for the enrollment of Veterans under the provisions of the Veterans' Readjustment Benefits Act of 1966.
